And the interesting website of the moment is:
The Random Word Haiku Generator!
I discovered this while looking for a word I wanted to use in this episode, but I ended up scrapping the entire idea for that episode in favour of this one, which is based on a real life conversation with my good pal Georgina. Hi, Georgina.
In other news, Dave, Bob and I (and I think Jacob as well) are planning on seeing The Matrix: Reloaded tomorrow morning. I haven't got a ticket yet but here's hoping there'll be enough, right? Right.
Speaking of Dave, he's been really slack with rants recently. It was his idea to have rants in the first place, too. Oh well, I'm enjoying them.
Meanwhile, programming of The Game (we really need a working title) is jumping ahead in leaps and bounds. Plus I'm getting really good ideas (albeit really difficult to program ones) every step of the way. If I managed to dredge up the effort to program all that I want to program this game could well end up actually being fun! *gasps from the audience*
Oh, well, that's all from me. |

Are you picking this up? Good. I know you need more deep background but we're up against it. (Kudos to anyone who recognizes this quote!)
OK girls and boys, time for a lesson. This lesson has three parts, so is everyone listening?
The first part of this lesson outlines a horrible piece of software known as Internet Connection Sharing, or ICS for short. ICS allows you to use one internet connection on a number of computers across a network. Everyone knows that. But what most people don't understand is how horrible ICS is when it doesn't work properly. Take MSN for instance. Works great over ICS, until you want to send a file. Can't send, can't send. THIS IS A MICROSOFT PRODUCT, FOR SHITE'S SAKE. You would think they would make it work over ICS, would you not?
The second part of this lesson is about my latest story of woe. Command and Conquer Generals, the best RTS released to date, does not work with ICS. You need a direct connection, and with no phone line in my room, that is not going to happen. I was most upset, then I got over it. But it hurt, not being able to play online, it hurt plenty. So I thought I could try a different network proxy.
Part 3: I tried Wingate. I un-shared my modem connection, installed Wingate Server, and nearly threw up. It's so horribly... Windows 98. Anyway, after much tomfoolery, I realised how bad the competition is. I uninstalled Wingate, and set up ICS again. Analog-X Proxy, that Tom <-- uses, is rather horrid as well.
The lesson is that no matter how bad you think ICS is, and I think it's pretty bad, it is so much better than anything else available you just have to put up with it. It's easy, it's reliable, it's part of windows, and it sucks.
Unfortunately, everything else sucks more. |
